bathers - by michael mcdermit

"as an interloper in the summer of 2018, i found myself fascinated with the mediterranean and the throngs of people basking in the slowness. i sought to capture what it was like to be in the company of those who largely had figured out the rejuvenating properties that time away from the rat race can have. these photos were shot in france, spain, and portugal on kodak portra 400 35mm film."

originally from rural pennsylvania, michael mcdermit is an artist currently living in los angeles. he is a writer, painter, musician, and film photographer. he is the associate editor of fogged clarity, an arts review, and is a professor of english in south la.
